Two upcoming NWOEA programs will occur on July 21, 2026. Both are excellent training opportunities for local leaders. Please pass this information on to local leaders that you believe would be interested in or would benefit from either of these programs.

NWOEA Treasurer’s Workshop

Our annual NWOEA Treasurer’s Workshop is designed to assist new and veteran local association treasurers and local membership chairs to better understand the duties of their office. OEA Treasurer will be the facilitator for this training. This Workshop will be held on July 21, 2026 at the OEA building 16406 E. U.S. 224. Suite 100 Findlay, OH 45840 Map this location 419-448-1498 or 800-686-3948 Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. with the workshop starting at 9:00 a.m. and concluding about 11:00 a.m. There is no charge for this workshop. Attendance at this OEA sanctioned Treasurer’s Workshop is a requirement to be eligible for the OEA Fiscal Fitness Award, and the workshop must be attended by the local treasurer or, in the case of continuing recognition, another officer can attend.

NWOEA President’s Workshop

Our annual President’s Workshop on July 21, 2026 will provide local presidents an opportunity to collaborate and learn skills that will empower them to develop, implement and monitor the strategies needed to create and maintain a relevant, visible, and thriving local association; empower them to identify and motivate a pipeline of diverse leaders; assess their individual leadership profile and consider how that profile connects to the structure and work of their local association; identify their leadership values and consider how to inspire others to join them in leadership; what it means to be an “OEA leader” of the 21st century. Lunch will be provided from 11:00-11:45 AM followed by registration beginning at 11:45 a.m. with the workshop starting at 12:00 p.m. and concluding about 2:00 p.m. There is no charge for this workshop.

NWOEA is announcing the availability of scholarships to the 2026 OEA Summer Academy to be held in Columbus, June 22nd-24th. The scholarships will cover the $100.00 registration fee and hotel lodging for single or double occupancy at the Hyatt Regency-downtown (350 N High Street) for TWO nights. All meals are included in the cost of registration. Scholarship applications must be made through the NWOEA Office.

NWOEA is offering ten district scholarships as well as up to ten matching OEA Scholarships. All members are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are offered on a first come, first serve basis with preference given to first-time Academy attendees, emerging leaders, and/or members with ten (10) or fewer years of teaching experience. If you meet the above criteria, be sure to indicate this information on your scholarship application.

All scholarships offered by NWOEA are limited to two per local. If funds are still available after May 1, 2026, the above limit will be waived. If you have any questions, contact the NWOEA Center at 419-424-1708 or nwoea.center@gmail.com

Please note that NWOEA does not register scholarship recipients nor make hotel reservations. We will notify our scholarship recipients by email and give instructions for online academy registration, as well as hotel information, but recipients must take care of their own academy registration and hotel reservation.

The 2026 MLTP Theme is: Turning Learning into Action.

Registration is now open for the 2026 OEA Minority Leadership Training Program. The OEA Minority Leadership Training Program (MLTP) provides OEA members of color with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully serve as leaders at all levels of the Association: local, district, state, and national. This program includes leadership development experiences and support throughout the year to develop each participant’s ability to match their leadership interests with leadership opportunities to positively impact OEA’s growth as an inclusive and diverse organization.

This program is scheduled for May 15 –16, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, 350 North High Street, Columbus, OH, 43215
