About Our President- Jennifer Long…
On June 1, 2013 NWOEA Vice President Jennifer Long assumed the position of NWOEA President upon the retirement of Jerry Schlick from teaching. Jennifer began her tenure on the NWOEA Board of Directors in 2006 as a Unit III Representative. She held the office of NWOEA Vice President from January 2011 until June 1, 2013 when she assumed the office of President. She has served as a member of the Scholarship Committee and the Internal Affairs Committee and has chaired the Professional Development Committee.
For the past 15 years Jennifer has served as President of her local association, the McComb Teachers Education Association, and has served as the NWOEA Representative on the OEA Local Development and Training Core Function Committee and currently serves on the OEA Collective Bargaining and Member Advocacy Committee.
Her goals for NWOEA member engagement and building relevancy in the association. Through building relationships with the members she hopes that this will lead to increased involvement in the local, state or national level among the members. Making the work of the association relevant to our members is also important so that each person feels as if they are a valued member of our organization. Another goal is to provide the members the professional development they need to meet the changes in education as well as provide support to all members.
Jennifer has been a member of OEA/NEA her entire career and has attended eleven NEA Representative Assemblies since 2006. She has also been a delegate to the NWOEA and OEA Representative Assemblies for many years.
Jennifer has been an educator for twenty-five years. She began her career with the Hardin Northern Local Schools as a High School Spanish and Elementary Gifted and Talented teacher and for the past 19 years she has been a High School Spanish Teacher in the McComb Local Schools.
Jennifer is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and received a Master of Education degree from the University of Findlay.
